Jan McKenzie, the Jericho Road, and Dr. Walter Veith - Modern-day Adventist Inquisition

CLEAR CASE OF HERESY

Professor Walter Veith is a heretic:

heretic n. "A person who holds controversial opinions, especially one who publicly dissents from the officially accepted dogma of the Roman Catholic Church." answers.com

He doesn't take Rome's claims of spiritual authority very seriously. Even laughs about them.

Needless to say, church authority would quickly crumble if every heretic got away with this.

THE CRACKDOWN

And so there is an inquisition.

Back in the old days, the inquisitors would arrest their suspects, bring them in for some third-degree interrogation, and often top it off with a public auto-da-fé.

But that was old days.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY SIMPLIFIES THINGS

In these modern times, its no longer necessary for the Grand Inquisitors and Father Confessors of this world to actually soil their hands with physical tortures and burnings.

So, its a cleaner, kinder, and gentler world.

Its the digital age.

Nowadays Father Grand Inquisitor can settle into his office chair and conduct a full and public auto-da-fé without even leaving the privacy and comfort of his own home!!

TORCH THE HERETIC

So, what kind of persecution can we observe? Adventist pastor Jan McKenzie has accused Professor Veith of being one of those "false teachers who with lying doctrines would try to lead others into the very darkness they hoped to escape." (Jan McKenzie, Walter Veith and His Dark Language Game, The Jericho Road, 27 October 2008)

Wow! Professor Veith is now an antichrist? Even a false teacher with lying doctrines?

Ooooh! How severe!

CALL IN THE OFFICE OF THE INQUISITION

Call out the Father Confessors and Inquisitors this minute:

"The conspiracy theorists, men such as Walter Veith do this frequently. Manipulating language rules, they misconstrue and misshape the original authors intended meaning. They will take what is clearly symbolic and point it to another symbol, instead of allowing the symbol, like all good signs, to point to a concrete reality. When this happens, everything becomes a ‘sign’ with no real content beyond itself. Reality becomes shrouded in mystical meanings that only our elite friends have the so-called courage and wisdom to decode for us. They develop private language rules that redefine the language “game” so they can be the “winners”. It really comes down to a power play. Paranoia rather than careful thought increases. TASTY SIGNS AND SYMBOLS

Amazing. The heretic Veith makes everything a symbol and sign. ("everything becomes a ‘sign’ with no real content beyond itself. ")

When this boy sits down to eat, everything on the table is a symbol and sign. No real content. So he starves to death?

Not quite. You see, Brother Veith hasn't completely lost contact with reality. For him, the food on the table is still food, and not just "a ‘sign’ with no real content beyond itself." (as per McKenzie, supra)

ANGER OF THE SYSTEM

He does talk quite a bit about freemasons, when he's not busy on new-age Satanists and Jesuits. And this can be dangerous.

The Inquisitor McKenzie, lets make that Grand Inquisitor McKenzie, points out there can be: "vindictive anger you encounter should you challenge the rules of meaning that give them the illusion of power through “deep” knowledge." (McKenzie, supra)

We're talking about the kind of anger the literary genius Friedrich Schiller experienced!

BUT IN THIS MODERN TIME?

Now wait a minute, you're thinking, can this really be an inquisition, where someone is coming on trial for his theological views?

STANDARD INQUISITORIAL TRIAL

A standard part of any such trial, especially in inquisitorial matters, is the plea of the defendant:

"Dr. Veith has a Ph.d in zoology, therefore, he could hardly plead ignorance regarding basic linguistic rules. What he could plead is ignorance in the application of these rules in his Biblical hermeneutics (hermeneutics: the art / science of interpreting language)." The Grand Inquisitor is already telling the Heretic Veith what kind of plea Heretic can make in his defense.

But the Father Confessor/Grand Inquisitor has one little problem! Sure he runs his auto-da-fé in the digital world, but that bold heretic isn't taking him too seriously.

"HEY, YOU, WALTER VEITH!!! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!

I'M THE GRAND INQUISITOR JAN MCKENZIE!! NOTICE ME!!"

But that South African heretic seems a little slow to make his plea of defense: "So far, any such plea has been a silent one." (Jan McKenzie, Walter Veith and His Dark Language Game, The Jericho Road, 27 October 2008)

Now its not that the Heretic Veith doesn't check the internet. Like most other people making a mark on the world, he checks the net regularly.

So he's read McKenzie's material? Probably.

And he takes it seriously?

BETTER THINGS TO DO

He doesn't have time to. You see, he's running a front-line ministry:

As Nehemiah would put it:

[2] That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
[3] And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? Nehemiah 6

Yes, Professor is busy with a great work. He doesn't have time to "come down".

"In fact, his video’s present a man well beyond confident in his own ability to interpret the truth for others." (McKenzie, supra)

"Dr. Veith, why aren't you afraid? I'm with the inquisition! Now shut up, and go home to South Africa!!!"

TEACHING WITH AUTHORITY

But this bold zoologist teaches with authority, not like his little-league critics. With Jesus, his critics were particulary disturbed by this. A teacher with authority:

"For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." Matthew 7:29

And Veith also speaks with authority. And he is also hated, just as Jesus was:

[3] Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, [4] And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. [5] But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. Matthew 26

Dr. Veith just keeps on with his research, lectures, and video production.

Meanwhile, the Grand Inquisitor was engaged in fabrication. Again and again.

HOW CAN THIS BE?

So how can Mr. McKenzie say things that are obviously false, and lack any basis in reality?

"In the past I was overcome with an addiction to drugs: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, cocaine, marijuana, pain killers, depressants, speed," (Jan McKenzie, http://thejerichoroad.com/bio/)

"Two studies by researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory provide evidence for the first time that abuse of methamphetamine ­- the drug commonly known as "speed" -- is associated with physiological changes in two systems of the human brain. The changes are evident even for abusers who have not taken the drug for a year or more. The studies also found that methamphetamine abusers have reduced cognitive and motor functions, even at one year after quitting the drug. The findings appear in the March issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry." "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7

"The Illuminati, Freemasons, Skull and Bones, or Jesuits cannot hide behind their secret handshakes or hidden, demonic symbols, not while men like Veith are vigilantly exposing them." (Jan McKenzie, Walter Veith and His Dark Language Game, The Jericho Road, 27 October 2008)

Really? Since Dr. Veith has come out with his lectures, the Jesuits no longer have symbols? The Freemasons no longer have secret handshakes?

Looks like Pastor McKenzie forgot to tell the pope and Tony Blair about this.

SPINNING YARN

Mr. McKenzie provides no evidence to support his contention. It is completely unsupported by any authoritative citations.

"Soon he will find the real Saddam Hussein instead of the body double hung in his place. Not long now, he will reveal exactly how President Bush and the CIA conspired to destroy the Twin Towers." (Jan McKenzie, Walter Veith and His Dark Language Game, The Jericho Road, 27 October 2008)

Really, Mr. Grand Inquisitor? How do you know? Or is this just more speculation, completely unsupported by any citations or authorities!

JESUS ALSO SPOKE TO CONSPIRACIES

"One might be forgiven for wondering why Jesus didn’t do the same work with the many Jewish and Roman conspirators around him." (Jan McKenzie, Walter Veith and His Dark Language Game, The Jericho Road, 27 October 2008)

Many Roman conspirators?

Any?

We note that a conspiracy is "An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act." Mr. McKenzie provides NO evidence that the Romans were engaged in any conspiracies in their provinces. Also NO evidence that Romans around Jesus were engaging in any conspiracies.

Is Mr. McKenzie just engaging in fabrication? Again?

THERE WAS DEFINITELY A CONSPIRACY GOING ON

But there were Jewish conspirators around:

"Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him." Matthew 12:14

"Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk." Matthew 22:15

Things with Jesus' lectures got totally out of hand:

"And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine." Mark 11:18

"All the people" were astonished at his doctrine?

"Walter Veith CD’s are making the rounds in many churches, including my own. They move faster than an angel with the gospel." (Jan McKenzie, Why I Won't Watch Walter Veith Videos, The Jericho Road, 22 March 2008)

Well, people got all astonished at the doctrines of Jesus. And they do with the doctrines of Walter Veith.

THE GERMAN NATIONAL CHARACTER

Jesus was perfect, but Veith is only human. He makes some mistakes. And being German, he loves to get into the details. But that's how Germans are.

They can fight over the most minor (or major) theological issues. For years. Which is why another German, Dr. Luther, got the ball rolling for the Protestant Reformation.

JESUS CHRIST BELIEVED IN, AND DISCUSSED, A "CONSPIRACY THEORY"

And did Jesus address a very real "conspiracy theory"? Absolutely!

Right here:

"Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?" John 7:19

"But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham." John 8:40

HATRED FOR THE HOLY BIBLE

And now Mr. McKenzie claims that Jesus did not do so:

Of course, deceptive tactics/errors of ignorance like this are nothing new:

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." Matthew 22:29

And that's how it is with this accuser of the brethren. He errs, not knowing the scriptures. As exhaustively demonstrated above.

FREE FOR ALL

We've reviewed the work of lots of "scribes", who have made huge errors. Honest mistakes? And so many?

Of just Jesuit infiltrators at work (shown here).

All of these people have made huge, egregious errors of fact in their attacks on the humble servant of the Lord.

"And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing." Matthew 27:12

And when Dr. Veith was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

TIME MANAGEMENT

How is this man going to spend his day? Do more research, and come up with books and videos that put truth around the globe, or get worked up over some petty sniping?

No way. The heretic is already 58 years of age. His work span will not go on forever,

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4

And that's how it is with the worthy doctor.

"Indeed it is all too difficult to get the heretics to reveal themselves when they hide their errors, instead of frankly confessing them, or when reliable and adequate testimony against them is lacking." And this is the problem the scribes and chief priests face. Dr. Veith "hides his errors". He hid them so well that his critics haven't proven them yet!

He won't even "frankly confess" to errors.

And, most tragically, "reliable and adequate testimony against" him is lacking.

Oh, these scribes of the world have done their best. Its just not reliable or adequate.

AND NOW ITS BECOME A SCANDALOUS MATTER

And that's what makes the heretic Veith such a problem!

"In such a case all kinds of problems confront the Inquisitor... Laymen of staunch faith find it a scandalous matter if an inquisitorial trial, once begun, is abandoned for some kind of lack of method. When they see the learned thus deceived by common and vile persons, the faith of the Faithful is to some degree weakened; for they believe that we have at our disposal luminous and certain arguments that cannot be refuted, and that they expect us to be able to vanquish [the heretics] in such a way that even a layman can clearly follow the arguments." And "the faith of the Faithful is to some degree weakened" because they believe that surely a Pastor Jan McKenzie or a Dr. Ekkehardt Mueller "have at our [their] disposal luminous and certain arguments that cannot be refuted, and that they expect us to be able to vanquish [the heretics] in such a way that even a layman can clearly follow the arguments."

So what to do in this tricky situation? Anything but a public debate:

And so the McKenzies and Muellers of this world publish their false accusations about Dr. Veith -- but debate him in public? Get their errors exposed?

That just wouldn't be "expedient".
